Mary Norwood leads Atlanta mayoral race in new public poll

Atlanta City Councilwoman Mary Norwood leads in a new poll of candidates hoping to succeed Kasim Reed as the city’s next mayor. HYOSUB SHIN/AJC

Atlanta City Councilwoman Mary Norwood is maintaining her lead in the race to replace term-limited Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, according to a new poll.

Norwood received 27 percent voter support in the newest poll from WXIA Channel 11 and SurveryUSA of 1,085 Atlantans from July 11-18. Her nearest competitor, City Council President Ceasar Mitchell, had 10 percent.

Norwood also topped a March poll from Channel 2 Action News, in which she had 28.6 percent support.
