The cloud hanging over City Hall over alleged bribery took center stage at Mayor Kasim Reed’s last appearance before the Atlanta Press Club today.

In an almost 50-minute speech, Reed ran through a list of accomplishments during his tenure, including jobs brought to the city by NCR Corp., building permits that outpaced several counties in the region and millions set for infrastructure improvements from November’s T-SPLOST referendum.

But he came back often to the issue of alleged “pay-to-play” contracts that have thrown the city’s government into scandal over the past few months.

“Because of the bribery scandal and the indictments related to it we will have to work very hard to stay focused at a time when the people have given us maximum support,” he said.
